Herrsching, Germany: Training Mentors for European Screenwriters and Filmmakers. SOURCES2. Oct '15.
Third time to work on SOURCES2 Training for Mentors programme, but eighth time working with the Berlin based organisation. The four day workshop is geared towards 'professionals working in the position of mentors for screenwriters and filmmakers in the field of script and story development (fiction and documentary), such as screenwriters, developers, consultants, script editors, producers, commissioning editors, trainers, and decision makers.' I spent a couple of hours with each group, introducing them to the way mapping can help screen writers deal with their stories. One of the regular group leaders, Michael Seeber (pictured left) said of the process last time "Paul Tyler`s approach has amazing impact for the writer. Paul just puts the story out of the writer`s head and maps it with objects on the table. And all of a sudden something unforeseeable happens: there, on the table, it is not anymore the writer`s story - it is just a story with it`s own truth and reality. What a relief for the writer who is now enabled to catch a fresh and clear look to it and its material."
